Carpet Cleaning London - Choosing the Correct Carpets

Carpet Cleaning London - Which Carpet?

Years of carpet cleaning London has taught me that many people choose completely inappropriate carpets for their homes.  Examples of this are many.  Often people choose what looks best without a thought for how they are going to maintain it.  Choosing the wrong carpet can lead to big problems and can reduce the life-span of your carpet by years!  This can be a costly mistake when you consider the cost of replacing them.

What colour of carpet?

Should I choose a wool carpet or a synthetic carpet?  Obviously there are many variables when making this decision.  For those that have money to burn then having to replace carpets regularly is not an issue.  For most however, we want to get value for money.  If this is the case then avoid some basic errors.

If your are carpeting an area of high traffic, such as a hallway or a living room where kids play, avoid fitting a cream or white coloured carpet.  It will simply become dirty looking with a period of about six months.  Over this period spillages and things like kids sickness will often prove to be a step to far for your carpet cleaner.  While advancements in stain spotter technology have increased what can be removed it's not guaranteed on some types of stains.  Choosing a darker type carpet with a slight pattern through it, for example, will ensure that any permanent stains will not be as obvious to people.

Should I apply carpet stain protector

The answer to this is yes you should.  However, be aware that it is not necessary to apply protector to a synthetic carpet.  These carpets are basically plastic so it will be a bit of a waste of time.  When it comes to wool carpets then you are protecting the wool fibres form being penetrated by the spillage or whatever.  The protector can give you the time to remove the spillage from the carpet before your wine or whatever gets into the fibres of the carpet and stains them.
